Why are we saving spoons?

Michaela was diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia, Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, and a handful of other serious medical issues over the last 12 years.  Ehlers Danlos (EDS) is genetic and affects Michaela every waking moment in one way or another. Michaela struggles with activities of daily living, because sometime even standing up is a struggle.  Her autonomic system has trouble regulating heart-rate, blood pressure, temperate, hormones, digestion, and so much more.  Dropping things and falling down is normal, and there are times that a flare hits Michaela so quickly she cannot even move from where she is at to get help.  With recent issues arising, Michaela is now facing even more issues with balance, vision, heart-rate, and the list goes on.

Saving Michaela a Spoon comes from the Spoon Theory by Christine Miserandino.  Saving a spoon means finding ways to help Michaela carefully navigate where her energy is directed, each and every day of her life. A service dog will be a needed addition as there are no cures to her disorders, and some of them are slowly degenerative.
